So the jag video in motorweek theater got me wondering what other modern large displacement gas powered I6 engines were ever put into production. I know about these:
1. Toyota 1fz-fe - land cruiser (counting the other F engines)
2. AMC 4.0L -lots of jeeps
3. Nissan TB42-48 - Patrol
!!!CAPTION ERROR: MAY BE MULTI-LINE OR CONTAIN LINK!!!4. Jaguar AJ16 - xj6
did I miss any? 4.0L or greater 1980's and up please.

I-like-big- blocks and I cannot lie
You other Jalops can't deny
When you open that head
With the gasket peeled back
With Six cylinders cloaked in black
You get sprung!
...
I'm sorry. I'll leave now.

How can you forget the 4.9LFord? 300 ci of stump pulling power that was last seen in 1996.

F-150's. That engine family got started in the 60's (i think) in HD trucks and then eventually worked its way into F-150. Started carb and went FI in the mid 80's. I think the Aussie cars got the 'big block' I6's also.

They are also common in late 90s E250s.

Oooh, has anyone tried swapping that into GM muscle cars?

The Aussie Ford Barra I6 is 4.0l if I'm not mistaken, and the TVR Speed 6 touched 4.0l in a couple of incarnations too.

I think it would be cool in a '50 chevy.

I found an LL8 Vega dragster build thread , which wasn't all that interesting. It's much more interesting to see people doing street builds, especially stick-shift ones.

Actually started with the 240 in '64 (?) which you could get in a pickup or even a Galaxie. The 300 came around in late '67 or '68. But yeah you got the gist.

I've been considering putting this in my 80. 290hp and 277 ft-lbs with decent fuel mileage to boot, AND much less axle weight...sign me up. Thats 80 more hp, only 2 more ft-lbs but probably 3 more mpg city/highway

Props for thinking about the AJ16 though. They're actually surprisingly good engines, for all their obscurity.
They have bottom ends built for a never-materialised diesel application, which has me wondering how much boost one could take. I know the early Aston DB7s used supercharged 3.2l Jag I6s with 335bhp, but I was thinking more along the lines of Supra-rivaling power.
It'd be great to rock up to a drag strip in the equivalent of a pipe and smoking jacket, and then tear down the strip at lightspeed.

That was the engine that immediately popped in to my head. It was a fine engine for trucks that were used as trucks and not personal style statements. My dad had one in an F-150 and it could certainly haul its share of wood. Now ass was a different story.

Agreed. That being said, i have wanted to turbo a 300 2wd F-150 that is dropped in the weeds. To bad i found a bare bones S-10 first. oh well...
